Pirates have attacked the New West! While the city is grieving after the most recent attack (the beginning of the piece), the alarm bells go off. Another pirate attack! The pirates enter the city and the citizens are scrambling to escape the wrath of the New West Pirates. The pirates take and destroy everything in their path. This piece must be played with emotion and drive as you are trying to capture the emotion and urgency of trying to escape. You must play this with intensity at bar fourteen on because pirates have just attacked and you are trying to capture the emotion and intensity of that. Flute, clarinet, and tenor players must be able to move their fingers rather quickly as there is a pretty fast part that involves a lot of finger movement. Flutes also must be able to play quite high and Baritone Saxophones must be able to play quite low. I gave my piece this title because these pirates are notorious for attacking the New West so their name is the Pirates of the New West.
