Bones in the Ocean

Although this sea shanty has a catchy melody, the story of this song is quite dark. It is about a sea captain who is deeply affected by survivors guilt from being the only survivor of the ship crash that killed his crew. He feels that his shipmates are angry at him for being the only one who survived and that the only way to settle that is to go out to the place where the ship sank and throw himself into the sea. Once there, he realizes that this isn't what his crew would have wanted him to do, and he sails back to land knowing that as long as he keeps the memory of his crew in his mind, they will rest at peace.
