I actually can’t take credit for the name though—that goes to my sister, who also happens to be learning the piece. I wrote this one pretty pianistically, so it’s actually decently playable. But it’s definitely not easy—so I’m impressed.
On another note, as you no doubt figured out by now, I’m publishing at the forefront of the wave of spooky music that occurs every October. Because it is only the very beginning of the month, you might be thinking that I’m writing Halloween music a bit early.
If you are, you’re wrong.
I wrote this around April/May. So I was writing Halloween music VERY early.
Did I have a good reason for this?
Spontaneity.
I actually started the score intending to write a major piece, and then BAM!—a spooky Phrygian Halloween-ish piece… in the spring. I’m unpredictable.
But it turned out cool, so that’s okay. And now I finally get to publish it.
