(Also its my birthday on May 26th... *hint hint nudge nudge*)
To those who have graduated in 2020,,, Or to those who are graduating in 2021... Or to anyone who is reaching a scholar milestone...
What you've done to reach this goal is unprecedented in the times we're in. I should know, as a part of the Class of 2020, I was once in your shoes of sitting in a room, staring through a screen. Others were shambling through the halls, wearing face protection, and maintaining social distancing. Others shifted to home schooling. Others dropped out. Regardless of your circumstances... regardless of your challenges... regardless of your political and moral views... we, all, together, thrived. We didn't survive, we thrived.
As we come to the end of another year, take a moment to look back one year prior. How did you feel back then? Worried? Scared? Confused? Or perhaps you thought you had summer break forever lol. Whatever it may be, how do you feel now? Have your efforts in these times been worth it? Have you accomplished your goals?
As for me, this piece was a goal I never expected to have. Last year, in May of 2020, the senior class were allowed to look through Youtube for music that represented "them". Of course, I am a composer, so instead of looking through the Starbound OST, I took inspiration from the melody of Pomp and Circumstance (Aka the very overused "Graduation Theme"), and gave it the ol' Otherworld treatment. Unfortunately, we were told last minute we couldn't play our music in place for a heart-crushing quick "drive-thru graduation". What's more, the original piece got corrupted, leaving me hopeless. However, a week ago from today, I was literally crying when I found ONE recording of this "lost piece". Then, I knew what I had to do from there. So here is a remaster of a remaster OF the Graduation Theme.
In the playback (Desktop only, sorry mobile crew), you can pull up the original recording, as I wish to forever memorialize this once lost piece here.
