I'm back with something I cooked up over the past few months, ignoring some scores that have been in progress for up to over a year. Yeah, I kinda let this piece just swoop in and finish itself so to speak. I had a handful of melodies ready and an idea of what I wanted the piece to be and was eager to finish it. The initial melody was just perfect for making a cool buildup, so I did just that - something I don't usually do (usually my pieces are in sections, like one level after another, as opposed to one long level with different stages within it.).
The triplet style was something I had been wanting to try out since I had thus far only really used triplets for swing pieces, though I did kind of include some swing rhythms in this piece. And as for why it isn't in 12/8: I prefer 4/4 with triplets since, in my opinion, it's easier to read that way (and was actually easier to write that way too).
I was a little disappointed by the short length of the piece because I had a bunch of other melodies that went unused. But alas, I reached a part of the piece where it felt like the perfect spot to end, so I wrapped it up at a little over the 2-minute mark. Plus, those other melodies were in normal 4/4 and had to change them into 12/8, which I thought would come out unnatural. So I'll save those for another song.
