Hey, so the marching band season is starting back up, and seeing everyone back out on the field for band camp really inspired me to try and make a marching band show, since it’s a really interesting way to convey emotion through music. Problem is, it’s not exactly easy to do it alone. If you want to help me, I’ll add you and your name will be added to the list of composers. There are also a few rules I’d like to go over...
RULE No. 1: Absolutely NO unoriginal music! Since this is an original composition, music from movies, tv shows, games, or other music compositions is prohibited.
RULE No. 2: Make it easy enough to play while moving, and keep it at an appropriate tempo. It’s gotta be able to have formations added to it, so try to keep things organized
RULE No. 3: Feel free to reuse motifs from other sections in the piece. Big hit moments reoccurring in other movements can be very impacting
RULE No. 4: Please respect everyone’s individual work. No writing over or delisting work without permission allowed!
Some tips if people don’t know anything about marching band who want to help: look up dci marching band competition an there’s a ton of videos with examples of what marching band music sounds like. It’s also really fun to watch and it’s a really great way to get introduced to marching band music.
...probably no one will join anyway but that’s alright.
