To Be Disappointed
This is my submission for @andymillikan‘s Emotion Sketch competition.(https://flat.io/score/615e01db7709de0012c757ab-content)
So this piece is meant to convey disappointment (as is hopefully obvious). Why did I choose disappointment? I don’t really have a specific reason; I guess I was feeling melancholy when I created this score and thought the title fit the music and vice versa. This was, by the way, the… third, I think? emotion sketch I started, simply because I would open the one score and think: “Meh, I would rather start a new one.” (I start more scores, and projects in general, than I finish.) But anyway, I think I like how it turned out. It is a far better piece played live than it is here, but I think that makes sense with the intentions of this piece and the competition, as a program cannot rival the feeling that a musician can put into a piece. And I didn’t have time (and am too lazy) to properly learn and record it, so… too bad.
