Hello!
This score was created for the
@mz_composer Competition. I wanted to create a piece that reflects who I was as a composer, while also showcasing different parts of the main theme, the Dies Irae. For those who don't know, the Dies Irae is a theme that is common in hymns that means day of wrath, and was meant to be the judging of whether a person went to heaven or the other place. I tried to mirror this in the piece, first beginning with the basic theme, before going to a happier place, meant to symbolize life. It also symbolizes the simple, more lyrical pieces that I have written in the past. After that, it transitions quickly to a more dark place, with lots of 7 chords, which I find fun to work with. It changes keys twice from there, meant to show how the person is being judged, and being weighed with the ups and downs of their life. Then it turns to A Major, and is meant to show that the piece ends happily, since stories should have a happy ending. I'd love to hear any thoughts in the comments, since I am relatively new to flat and composing in general. I hope that you enjoy!
Anyway, Bye!
