Starflight - For Piano and Symphonic Band

The first half of this piece was written a long time ago, but I was never satisfied with the rest. Pretty much everything from the mars-style section on is from the past few weeks.

The premise of the piece is a person with a dream. The person dreams of sprouting wings, going wherever the wind takes them. Flying through the stars, viewing the universe... but for now, their telescope will have to suffice. As they move forward in life, their dreams are realized, but in a way that couldn't be expected - As an astronaut! With the completion of a lifelong goal, they sit back and finally realize the beauty of the universe around them.

Perhaps this is just the story of you and I. I believe everyone has a dream - even if they haven't found it yet. Some of us will find that dream, others of us won't. But that doesn't disqualify any of us from finding the beauty around us.

So as you listen, I hope that you can think of your own story embedded in this small piece of music.
