Yay! August challenge! Of course, I based parts of this piece on "Aquarium" by Camille Saint-Saëns.
I was trying to go for a juxtaposition of calm and floaty parts and slightly panicked chase scene bits.
Here's the dream it was based on:
I was in an underground maze-like tunnel system that was dimly lit up by bioluminescent plants all around. I picked up a shiny rock, and all of a sudden, I started floating. I floated on for a while, but then I dropped the rock. It skittered down the tunnels, and I fell to the floor. The previously peaceful glow in the dark creatures started to run at me, so I ran away towards my rock. I dodged around the corner, and sneaked along until I got back to my floaty rock. I picked it up again, and floated onwards. I started to try to find a way out, and after a long time, I started to wonder if escape from this underground cave system was possible. Finally, I saw light in the far distance, and I floated a bit faster towards it. Everything seemed perfect, but then, the tunnel creatures chased after me. I was so close to getting out of there, but they caught up to me and dragged me backwards. I tried to fight back, but they slowed me down, finally dragging me all the way back to the darkness. Then, the left me alone to float in the dark maze forever.
Then, I woke up a little bit later and thought, "that was weird, how did my brain come up with that?"
Hey, thanks for reading that whole thing. On a completely unrelated note, I just discovered a pretty unknown composer on flat. They made a couple really cool marches, so go check them out:
https://flat.io/@riley_kloha Also, try to guess what color the bioluminescent plants in my dream were. If you guess correctly, then... well, I'll come up with something or other.
