Danza Espanola in D Major
(A Romantic Spanish Dance for Piano and Claves)
This piece is a Spanish Dance built from a combination of influences from composers such as Albeniz, Granados, Lecuona, Bizet (hints of Carmen) and Liszt.
It is a fun repeating set of variations on a central theme with a bridge used in multiple places. The faster variations draw heavily on Liszt-style passages.
The rhythm is creating using the claves instrument voice, which allows a castanets-type style accompaniment which adds a bit of tango and flamenco to the mix.
