Today I decided to share a piece I wrote while going through creative block. Creative block is when you can't come up with ideas for a book or piece of music because you're completely uninspired or your mind is completely blank.
I've been getting this question a lot so I decided to make an example of how I beat a creative block when it happens.
- First I chose to make my work easier by "scoring" a specific scene of a show I really like. For instance, this piece is based on a fictional scene I made up for the show Lucifer on Netflix. It's about Lucifer becoming a newborn's dad and well... we all know how the sassy Lucifer would behave. Quite the spectacle honestly haha.
- Anyway, then I made up a melody that conveys chaos and anger. Chaos being the entire scene's feeling and anger because of the baby crying the entire time.
- Then, since I already established the feeling of the piece, pretty much my work was done. All I had to do after was continue and remember to stay within the "vibe". Since I was uninspired, I just chose to make varations on the same melody. Also, I used a few transitions to make it more interesting to listen to.
Hope this can help you beat your creative block! Thank you for listening <3 - Nick
