The Nativity is such a beautiful scene, so why not write a poem about it? The text is all by me, which I wrote describing what I imagine the Nativity looked like, I Saw At Bethlehem. Then I decided to write a simple hymn tune, but then I would change the harmony every verse, then add a descant at the end. I wanted this piece and poem to illustrate in your mind the Nativity. Presenting an original composition and poem by me: I Saw At Bethlehem
I saw at Bethlehem, a virgin with her child She cradled him to sleep and laid him in a manger, for his bed tonight
I saw at Bethlehem, the oxen and the ass They stood by Jesus, where mankind will come They all looked down upon him To see the savior's birth
I saw the wise men, bearing three gifts They brought them to Jesus, Gold, myrrh, and frankincense And worshiped the newborn king
I saw the angles, that came down from heav'n They sang his praises: Glory be to God! Jesus is born, Alleluia!
