The Grandoiso Sound. The Present Story. And complicated feelings...
Those are the foundations of this piece in light of
@the_piano_professor 's competition for 2023. I took inspiration from
@the_letter_h 's "The Land Long Forgotten" and my own "A Proper Fairytale". I joined in late, started late, and probably submitted late. And while short, I feel happy with the piece with the little time allocated. Wishing every competitor the best, regardless of the fate I'm handed by the judges.
Side tangent-
This melody was stuck in my head for months. I could not discover or figure out any sort of story to put it towards, so the melodic idea just sat there, collecting dust. Then came February, and a bunch of self-introspection on top of the competition I have just joined. I won't get into details (more out of staying under the 2000 character limit), but I'll say that I am quite lonely out in the middle of nowhere, and human contact has been minimal. I just never fully comprehended how much it ravaged my emotional state until I discovered a new group of friends who were hell-bent on discovering that introspection with me, while giving me more unconditional love than I knew what to do with. I'll admit, it was overwhelming. This would go on in the background as I compose the piece, so I must give them my thanks on the heart and soul of this piece. Although I am only now getting out of the blind emotional complacency that is with new friends you think you just mesh with, I have optimism to continue the stories that we're making right now with these people. Something to hopefully look back on in year's time, even if we end up physically apart.
