I did not arrange this because I like Outlander. The theme for that show is a creative twist of this song, but I prefer the original, Jacobite lyrics, being a guy with those sympathies myself. The lyrics, the way I see it, convey not only the tragedy of the 1745-6 Jacobite Rebellion, and the hope that "Charlie will come again."
The full song is very good. I recommend the version by Noel McLoughlin. "Speed bonnie boat like a bird on the wing Onward the sailors cry Carry the lad that's born to be King Over the sea to Skye."
