So here it is.
Apologies for the suspense; I wanted to build some hype, though I don’t think anyone’s as excited as I am by having somehow managed to write this.

This is my submission for Round 3 of
@marcato's Composition Competition. I started out on this challenge thinking, “Hmm, I wonder if I could make something jazzy with these instruments? That would be unique.” I started that score and like 20 measures in measures 1-4 of this score happened. (My first-drafting skills don't really include transitions.)
So then this happened, and I’ve been working on it a bit obsessively over the last three weeks, so yeah, here ya go.
I've definitely never done anything like this before. This is my also first time using most of these instruments, which was fun. My “freebie instrument” was the drum set, and I feel like this is the first piece where I’ve started to actually ‘get’ the percussion--I even got some polyrhythms in there. I also had a lot of fun with those tremolos—I’ve had that trick up my sleeve for a while (sound rlly cool on organs too) but never used it till now.
Also, my sister said this needed a story so last night I wrote the very stupid, original, and not-related-to-the-music tale you’ll find at the bottom of the score. This is actually my mischievous plot to get everyone to listen to the end—‘cause if you were gonna listen to like the first 20 measures and then leave (I've *definitely* never done this), HA—now there’s a very dumb storyline to hold your attention and you have to listen to the whole thing lol (For those of you who are faithful enough to listen to the full thing normally, disregard that on the first listen maybe; I spent hours upon hours on the music and maybe 30 minutes on the story lol. Then listen to it again and read the story so I get more plays >:)
