Recompense - September Competition

This is my submission for the september competition. It is a soundtrack for the game Final Fantasy VII Remake. In Final Fantasy 7, you follow Cloud who was hired as a mercenary for an environmentalist group, Avalanche. The instrument I chose to represent the player is the violin. In the game, the violins are heard heavily throughout most ost's. Playing as Cloud, he can be closed off but as the story progresses, he opens up. This is similar to the range of a violin. The intrsument is versatile, being able to sound essentialy every emotion. Therefore, I think it best represents the player (Cloud). Later in the story, during a character's speech, they say "I had it coming," meaning that their recompense was due for what they did. This song is made for that sequence in the story. The scene is dark and ominous because it shows how even though what they are doing is for a good cause, there is lots off loss and damage that is required do it. This questioning of morality plays a big part in the game which is why I think it's a perfect scene.
