"What?" Raymond asked as the forest seemed to darken around them.
"There in the trees," she said pointing into the forest."
"There isn't anything there," Raymond told her.
"I know I saw something. I just don't know what. It was like a shadow, but it was not coming off of anyone. It was just by itself," Annora said to Raymond.
They both began to look deeper into the forest, neither one speaking. Shadows appeared all around them, running through the trees.
"Annora," Raymond said. "I think I know what you mean. We need to get out of here."
The forest fell silent all around them.
"GO!" they both exclaimed.
They began to sprint through the forest with the shadows seeming to be everywhere all around them. The forest did not appear to be the one that they had been in so many times. It resembled a place they had never been, and they did not know what direction was the right one. They kept running.
"Over here!" Raymond yelled to Annora.
There was a large tree laying sideways on the ground, holding up the dirt on one side of it. The other side of the tree was open, with space underneath it. Both of them ran underneath it and lied down to be out of sight.
The shadows ran around them for a moment, before falling back into the forest. Light started to come back around them.
"What was that?" Annora asked Raymond.
"I don't know," he said and paused. "I don't know if I want to know either.
