Hi y'all! This is my submission for Decembre's Challenge, A Xmas Carol. I went to try to recreate the classic story through music, instead of a reinvention of it, with each section being a different stave in the book. Anyway, here's the rundown: A Man Named Scrooge: - Starts out with a brooding bass melody, with horns showing harmony behind it, and the piano having a running constant behind it all, before a somewhat cheery yet dark melody in the upper woodwinds and trumpets. Represents the man Scrooge was before this fateful night. The Ghost of Christmas Past - With this ghost being a childlike figure, it starts out with a minor key rendition of twinkle twinkle little star in the marimba and piano, before transforming into an almost ethereal vibe with the horns on backgrounds, and small short snippets from the marimba, piano, and then trumpet and flute. Shows a misty nostalgia for the past, and how Scrooge used to love. The Ghost of Christmas Present - This one starts with a very christmassy ostinato, before having a musical conversation between the trumpet and alto. Very playful, and shows the christmas festivities. The Ghost of Christmas Future - This Ghost takes the form of a grim reaper, and I tried to replicate that in the first few bars, with the high piano octaves, and the low voice sustains. From there, you can hear horse whinnying from the trumpets, and it maintains a dark tone to emphasize what will happen if Scrooge maintains his current state of being. A Changed Man - Major version of the main melody, shows a changed person who is no longer so evil. He spreads Christmas joy to all.
