Hey guys! This piece has been in the works for a while and has had quite a few transformations. I would like to first thank idk_wyatt (not on flat) for being my primary source of feedback regarding this piece. I don’t usually thank people in my scores but he’s had to put up with a lot of pestering on my end. This is for the first official String Club Competition 2023/2024! I’m really excited to take part in this with the likes of Groovy, Bezakos, and Flat.io Earther being judges. I would *like* if all of the judges gave feedback and/or thoughts about the piece, but I understand it’s not required.
Now on to the actual score. So for this piece, my main sort of idea behind it is the concept of love being a sort of intangible and complicated feeling. It’s hard to understand what love is, or how/why it works. It was difficult to nail this abstract concept down while also not being too alienating for the listener. It’s a piece about love so you know there’s going to be some nice tension in there, as you’ve all likely come to know and (possibly) love from me. I worked really hard on this and tried to make this sound work, but I couldn’t do it alone. I am thankful to everyone who helped me shape this piece into its final form. I’m really proud of how this piece came out, which is definitely not something I would have said when I finished the first draft. It’s not terribly long, clocking in at just over four minutes. That’s all the time I felt like I needed to convey what I wanted to convey. I really enjoyed writing this piece, and I can’t wait to hear everybody else’s submissions. I’m not particularly aiming for first place with this one. I mainly wanted to make this piece to the best of my ability, and this competition was in fact the main inspiration for me making this piece in the first place. I remember Groovy wanted me to make a string quartet, and well, here it is! I hope all of you guys enjoy my submission for the first official String Club Competition!
