This is my submission for the December monthly competition. Sorry it took a while but I have been a bit busy.
This piece is inspired by ghibli songs. I can't say it's only Joe Hisashi because I did take inspiration from other ghibli composers. Though, it's hard to tell with the flat soundfont.
The first section is named after the first stave in the book "A Christmas Carol". It has a sinster sounding Christmas feel to reflect Scrooge's negative views towards the holidays. Not only that, but it also reflects when Scrooge sees Marley's ghost in chains and other ghosts through the window.
The second stave has a quiet yet somber feel to reflect his sad memories of how horribly he treated others. The melody is sung by a female choir because often times the ghost of christmas past is represented by a girl/woman.
The third stave is big and grand to reflect the jolly giant and how upbeat present day christmas is. The fourth stage is dark to reflect the evil and gloomy cloaked figure that is the ghost of christmas yet to come. Not only that, but the snare guides the beat to show how scrooge is marching towards his lonely grave. The final stave is a more upbeat version of the first stave to show how scrooge's views have changed.
