This is the piece that I have been working on for about a month. I originally was going to do an orchestral but was inspired by (Allstate Festival Orchestra) Polovtzian Dances to make a piece that highlights the beauty of the oboe. For those of you who don’t know, oboe is one of the hardest instruments to play and make a good sound making this a challenge. I composed this is a mix of parts, I would make the melody, and based off of that I would make the harmonies, and I’ve finally finished. I actually finished this piece 4 days ago but decided not to publish because usually when I upload a piece I end up doing a lot of editing, so I’ve spent the past couple of days fixing up articulation and dynamics. I tried to give each instrument a good part, but some instruments got the short end of the stick, shoutout to contrabass, Tuba, and clarinet. Contrabass was given a part but I decided it didn’t fit so it plays for about 12 measures, Tuba has an important role it’s just not in most of the piece, and clarinet just was given one melody for the entirety of the piece. Also I would like to say I appreciate saxophone and will be making a solo work for it next month, since I’ve composed nothing with saxophone in it. Please tell me if any parts are not playable as I want this to be as playable as possible just in case my orchestra would want to play it. That’s about it, I have a few other works in progress though I’m going to take more time on my compositions from now on. ~ AMC
