Hello Everyone!
This piece is my submission to round two of the legends competition. The second round was to compose a piece using the style and leitmotif of a video game or movie which is something I’ve wanted to do for a long while. This piece is my personal tribute to the film Jurassic Park, a movie I consider to be among, if not the greatest, of all time. As someone studying paleontology, this film changed my life, so I’m very happy to have this opportunity.
Regarding the piece, I decided to try to stylize the piece based on instrumentation. In the film's score, bass lines are usually very sustained long undertones which is something I tried to replicate here. The woodwind lines (especially the flutes) are often sporadic and wild in nature. The strings are always hopeful or doubling the brass lines. Overall, I think I did well to represent the piece with a few leitmotifs thrown in.
The leitmotifs used here are sometimes subtle and sometimes part of the primary sound. They are all listed below. There is a surprise cameo in here, but all I’ll say is to pay specific attention to the bass drum and timpani.
I hope you enjoy and good luck to my competitor
