EDIT: I now have 6 judges, so I don't need anymore. I still need people to make pieces however; and remember that you can make pieces and still compete!
Hello everyone! I am hosting yet another challenge. This one is very unique, and I do not think anyone has done before. But before I disclose the details, I need people's help to host this competition.
First, I need judges. 4 Minimum, although the more judges there are, the more even the score will be. I also need people willing to make pieces for this competition. And I don't mean as competitors, these pieces will be part of this competition. I will need each person to make at least 2 pieces, and I want probably a total of 10 scores.
So, I am naming this competition the Jigsaw Competition. Here is how it will work: Competitors will choose from a variety of pieces (these are the ones made by people from earlier). But, the of these pieces will be mostly incomplete. Some instruments don't play at parts, and even entire measures will be empty. Once the competitor has chosen a piece, they will complete it in their style.
Scoring rubric:
/30 points - Accuracy, how well the composition fits the theme created for the incomplete piece
/30 points - Instrumentation, how well the composer used the given instruments
/30 points - Flow and transitions
/30 points - creativity
/10 points - judge's personal enjoyment
10 possible bonus points, if the composer chose a score with a unique time signature.
Composers for the incomplete pieces, here are the requirements:
- At least 2 pieces, one with a typical time signature, and one with a unique time signature (Anything other than 4/4, 3/4, 2/2, 6/4 or their equivalents) - Each must be at least 1:30 in length - Minimum of 1 instrument, maximum of 8 - Either as you compose or after, must have at least 70% missing if it were full
The deadline to complete these pieces is June 15th.
If you have any questions or suggestions for this competition, ask in the comments!
