The Grove

This piece was written for my composition class in which the assignment was to write a short song. At first, I struggled to find lyrics to set, but I was reminded of a poem I had started writing last summer and finished more recently. It details my experience with a specific nature spot, or "grove", on the outskirts of my hometown where I have made many great memories. Knowing that I would eventually have to leave that place behind, I began to envision myself returning one day far in the future to recall the memories of my childhood.
