(Disclaimer: if you want a better sound quality and more emotion, I HIGHLY suggest switching your sound to the "Ataraxia_Movement2(1)" audio. However, if you want to hear the beautiful chords, then Flat audio works better. Also, headphone usage is also recommended).
Hello, nerds! I know it has been two months since I published the first movement of Ataraxia. I used to be big on publishing my music quick, but the older I've gotten, the more I have realized that quality is more important to me than quantity. With that being said, I put some really hard work into this for the past few weeks with this score, so I hope it sounds good.
Unlike the first movement, my goal was to create tension and really capture the feeling of tranquility being disturbed. I used chords, dynamic control, and transitions to handle my goals. I have a hard time with transitions, but I think I did a great job mixing things up.
Now, my first movement contained the story within the description, but if you want to read the plot of the second movement, then read the annotations that I wrote on the music itself for you! I promise you it will make the music feel more significant and tension.
I didn't have a clear inspiration for this movement, but hearing Shostakovich really helped me to understand how to build my piece. During this time of creating this score, I had some bad composer's block, but my other inspiration for this was my love for Orchestra. I wanted to capture the dark beauty within the ebony wood and delicate strings. I'm just super excited for Orchestra! Speaking of which, this and the first movement should be PLAYABLE, so let me know how it sounds on a real string instrument (if you are a string player) :D. Stay Nerdy!
