Here’s my submission for the Flat May Challenge! It’s been a while since I’ve competed in one of these, I think December? Needless to say, I’m glad to be back. By the time I’m posting this, I’ll be graduating next week! I’m excited to be able to write music a hell of a lot more frequently.
I wrote a story to go along with my maze, which was greatly inspired by both “Saw,” “The Hunger Games,” and “Maze Runner.” The story is that there is a group of powerful people who believe people below them aren’t worth anything but entertainment. They capture people who are poor and greatly accessible; those who wouldn’t be missed. The people captured have their own area where they live until it’s “Selection Week,” where one person’s name is called out and have a chance to escape. Most people don’t escape, but those that do receive a reward of a large sum of money, and a choosing of their new residence; like a luxury Witness Protection.
The story follows a 22 year old man, one that was taken from his home to “compete” in this maze escaping. After being there, he makes some friends, none of which have been inside of the maze, except for one older man; Albin. He came back out to share his findings
“The Maze opens, getting out is your only hope of surviving this sick game. You begin to get the hang of things, but are soon humbled by the dangers of The Maze, and you begin to run dry on breath. You’re safe for now. You find an oasis, unbeknownst to anyone else who has traveled here before.
Being in unmapped territory, you don’t know how to get out. You notice a large figure approaching, you run for your life slowly. You get the hang of things again and you’re running. You see a light at the end of the tunnel. You make it out with only a few milliseconds to spare." This was something I wrote while listening to it for the last time. It's not supposed to be great writing lol
Enjoy! Feedback is appreciated. Thank you for listening! :))
