doing a submission every month until i either win or Die trying
yo. i had a tonsillectomy, a surgery where they take out your tonsils and adenoids, and one that is notoriously painful to recover from. was planning on submitting this on the 17th but i got sick of it and worked on a storyline instead. this has also harmed my mental state substantially so i am not sorry for my absence 🤷♀️
very proud of my #2 last challenge (they even correctly typed my name in lowercase!) but it is getting harder to top myself with every submission so i did a simple chopin-styled waltz this time. it's a sequel to Grievous Witch, a celebration i did a WHILE back that made it to #2 on the popular page (fitting), probably one of my most famous pieces at that time.
while this one isn't as dark, it definitely has its moments of grit and despair as it portrays the ringmaster and his struggle to find self-acceptance for his past mistakes at one of his final acts at a circus in colombia. its main theme is lighthearted yet meandering, symbolizing the crazed/elated state of mind he's in while controlling the other acts, and the dissonate moments are a symbol for his dark thoughts and fears of being abandoned. in the end he finds this coveted self-acceptance and the piece ends calmly, the ringmaster retiring and reflecting back on his life.
i thought this story fit the description for the ringmaster (which was strangely specific), and it takes place in cartagena just because i'm colombian
i wasn't proud of this piece before, but it isn't so bad. definitely worse than frantic maze frolic though, a piece i grew to really like
UPDATE: added annotations UPDATE 2: messed something up lol
hope you guys enjoy, sure hope i don't get second again ! 🙂
Full title name is "Devilishly Grandiose Ringmaster Performing at the Circo Teatro"—good luck with that ;)
