The last words she told me were "Run, and don't look back", and that as long as I followed this advice when I heard it's call, I would live on.
And the last I've heard of her was their screams, backed by its call of four repeated ringing notes. What happened to her could only be left to my imagination.
I've been living this way for most of my life now, and don't plan to stop. I scavenge for necessities, I hear its call, I run away from its sound, I find a place to hide, and I hope to hear the sound fade away to silence I dare not even look to check if it's clear when its presence is heard. Her petrified stance as she embraced me for the final time was clear enough to tell me not to. I can only imagine what horrors it could be as the sound ringing slowly fades...
...
I hear the ringing getting louder. Time to run.
*Storytime over*
Welcome to this unique piece made up of whatever my mind comes up with at midnight. This my submission for round 4 of the legend comp, and was made in a few hours. For this prompt, I made the unknown be an entity that very little is known about. The story for this piece was vague to allow for reader interpretation and add to this experience for fear of the unknown. The four notes referenced in the story are the bassline in the piano, cello, and string ensemble heard throughout the piece. No techniques this time around :(
As for my favorite submission for this comp, it would be "Stendhal syndrome". There's just something so impressive about how a single instrument could be used to make something of that quality.
Finally, here's an announcement. I won't be able to compose as much due to school (already started), so I may only be able to compose during the weekends when possible.
