first piece with new profile!
the colors i used were debian red, purple, and orange. the emotions/feelings i wanted to induce were anger, mystery, and warmth respectively. although a simplification of the moods the colors evoked, it's the gist of what i tried to encapsulate. i chose the name due to the haunting nature of these emotions/colors:
red: anger, can be destructive, also associated with blood & satan
purple: mystery/suspense, fear of the unknown
orange: associated with halloween, definitely haunting lol
the piece is split up into 4 parts: the beginning/end, the anger, the mystery, and the warmth (separated by double bar lines). it should be easy to determine which is which, but i did add a bit of my interpretation to these emotions. i imagined these colors with context, emotions through the eyes of a boy and a widowed parent, and the struggle that comes with grief/how it affects others. it can be summarized in a brief quote i came up with:
"The Widow mourns the loss of her spouse.
The Boy mourns the loss of his mother."
it explores themes of grief carried on to the innocent and how its hauntings can transform once lovable figures into something different; something lost. but perhaps there's still some hope in that grief, as with the process comes renewal, depicted in the warmth section. or maybe, that warmth was never there.
piggybacking off of that, i've decided to make a new etude series, one that explores the different tones of pieces and feelings they can invoke in someone (very inspired by rach's etudes tableaux set). this one was a test but the next ones i'll do my best to be ambitious with, though much harder to do within the confines of challenges. i'll do my best.
made in about a week or so, hope you enjoy! (PS: Will not be using Musescore audio for challenges anymore—Tutteo doesn't like that.)
