This track is my interpretation of a group of seascape color swatches the color generator matched me with. This color palette holds particular significance with me, especially at this time in my life. I was inspired to dramatize, in a loose jazz style, the chaotic harmonies of the sea itself: I realized I’ve rarely, if ever, seen the sea in a total and utter state of calmness. The majority of the time the sea is choppy and rather frenetic, sometimes less, sometimes more, but always moving and changing. The sea’s colors evoke emotions likened to a kind of ‘turbulent tranquility’—there is harmony, but it’s lively and rough. I wanted the music to capture these feelings because it seems to mirror how life truly is. I wanted to evoke the feeling of the sea’s greens and blues flowing and ebbing in a rhapsodic tumult of sound; also to highlight the many variations of these colors’ moods. I greatly enjoyed this challenge and composing this piece. It became very important and dear to me for personal reasons.
