So here's the scoop with this song. I totally forgot about the competition until Saturday, when people started sending their songs. So I'm like, "oh, shoot," so quickly, I made this song in like four or five days (which isn't that much for me) and this is the final product.
Fun fact: I find that most of my songs start in what feels like "the middle" then I make something after or before it, then THAT makes it to the final score, while I delete the thing I started with.
GroovySauce@i_will_go_and_do this is literally the best piano quintet which sounds nice with flat strings. they don't do much justice whereas you used them marvellously

𝐹𝒜𝒵𝐸𝑅May I create a new symphony version of this song. I will give you full credit for the song and share the song with you. I will also ask before i publish it so you can approve.
𝐹𝒜𝒵𝐸𝑅@emrazdik doesn't matter that much on this song... it is generally the background music and rhythm.

okletdown@fossomar.flat.io even if a given instrument plays more of a supportive role than an active one, score order still is a thing that generally for this kind of thing (competition submission) should be adhered to unless there is a specific reason. And in this case, for this instrumentation (string quintet + piano/piano quintet plus bass), piano would normally be on the top of the score above all of the strings. Eric is also a judge for the World Cup competition and the comment was more informative than it was critical

𝙷𝚢𝚖𝚗 𝚂𝚙𝚘𝚝☻@okletdown Unfortunately, this is untrue in this specific scenario, as well as many others. You see, there are many different variations on formatting. In a standard symphony, you will find the the order intentionally is placed as written: woodwinds, brass, percussion, harp, piano, and then strings. However, because this song is not a symphony orchestration, but a string quintet, you will find that the accompanist will be at the bottom of the score. This is similar in how percussion appears at the bottom of most scores but is placed above string instruments in a symphonic orchestration

okletdown@i_will_go_and_do This specific orchestration doesn't seem to have a traditional score order, so that's not surprising to hear. You could see this ensemble's construction as a string quintet with piano accompaniment, but you could also see it as a piano quintet with bass added. I usually treat the ensemble the second way, having the piano play a more active role. Even then though, after doing some research I definitely see instances of piano being in both places for piano quintet, but surely enough, as you said, most of them have piano at the bottom of the score. Even if the piano does have a more active role, which it normally would in a piano quintet, it still *usually* is placed at the bottom from what I saw. My initial assumption was wrong, thank you for the correction. My other focus of my original comment was correcting the other commenter who had said that the order "doesn't matter that much on this song". I said that it is a submission for a competition and given that some judges would look out for that kind of thing, score order would matter. Even now knowing there is no problem with the order, that part of what I said holds true
small addition: Treating this ensemble the other way (treating the piano as an accompaniment instrument) makes just as much sense. I meant to say that but I forgot

𝙷𝚢𝚖𝚗 𝚂𝚙𝚘𝚝☻@okletdown lol he my frien. And I honestly only know that bc I'm in orchestra

Victor Gledsoné uma musica linda, maravilhosa. espetacular
steakWow this is good. I also do that where I make the middle first and sometimes I keep it sometimes I don’t.
•
𝙷𝚢𝚖𝚗 𝚂𝚙𝚘𝚝☻@steak_studios Yeah, for this piece, if you see what viola has from 49 to 64, that was an alto part for cello with the lead violin playing a bouncy melody. And 65-72, the piano part was like the second thing I wrote in the score when I remembered that I need piano.
Evalv@groovysauce I didn’t see any announcement about it, the last I saw was the other day when somebody asked about due date and it was still the 26th
FireFairy316@i_will_go_and_do - Yeah, I got a -1 in the first round. I'm still in, I just need a +3 to move on, I think (and maybe a +2 if I play my cards right). I will probably finish my WCC round two piece today, and I will most likely post in a few more hours. I don't know when, but I need to add some things. I got the tune finished, I just need to add articulations, dynamics, etc.

𝙷𝚢𝚖𝚗 𝚂𝚙𝚘𝚝☻@firefairy316 Good for you! I think I got a... well I got second place in my group, but only because two other people didn't submit. And send me a link when you finish it! I should be around when you do
•
FireFairy316@i_will_go_and_do - Thanks, be expecting a link today! What two other people didn't submit, because I am between 3rd and 4th place, behind you.

𝙷𝚢𝚖𝚗 𝚂𝚙𝚘𝚝☻@firefairy316 I'm not sure... Sorry I was gone long, I'm working on homework. And looking at you profile, this should be and easy challenge for you because you are very talented with strings while most people struggle with them (like me)
FireFairy316@i_will_go_and_do - Oh, no problem, and thanks! Over the hour I was taking care of two pugs and talking to my mother. You got this, and you are very talented! :)
