doing a submission every month until i either win or die trying
(update: changed a few errors with the score, audio is the exact same though)
i really like this one, i didn't mean for the series to peak so early but oh well, i'm not the best at writing sets of pieces
for my haunted house i imagined an old, white haunted house in a misty field of bone-like branches emerging from the ground. the inside of the haunted house is adorned with clear pillars, vases, and trinkets made of glass. this house is inhabited by a young witch, dressed in gleaming white as she flies around her home aimlessly. one can even hear her pained laughter at times. it's as if she's cursed, and the permanent blinding sky where seemingly no other non-snowy color exists reflects her very being.
"There must be a cure to my despair, right?"
piece-wise, it's dainty and fragile in the beginning without many low notes to fill the space, serving to paint the picture of the landscape the piece depicts as well as the glass portions of the haunted house. it soon picks up, becoming more grounded and meandering through several keys; a parallel to the aimless path of the witch. soon it reaches a fiery climax, with incessant, structured chords that seem almost like laughter. it dies down in the end. a tiny flourish plays.
this piece was challenging to make in the beninging and it went through an alternate rendition before i decided on this. i wanted to give a more unique approach to the eerieness of halloween, rather than the classic black and orange aesthetic. i hope i did well at depicting the haunted house, if not simply look up "kanade bloom fes card" and you'll get the picture.
heavily inspired by Etudes-Tableaux Op. 39 No. 5, hope you enjoy
