Not all winters have soft snow blanketing the world or falling silently as fireplaces crackle and marshmallows float on steamy hot chocolate. In some places, it becomes so cold it is dangerous to venture out. In some places, the sun doesn't rise above the horizon for the entire season.
This piece depicts both the cold and the darkness of far-north winters. The cymbals represent the howling wind. The opening represents the first frost, while the fading end depicts the sense of dread during the final sunset of the season, before the region is shrouded in darkness for weeks, or even months, telling you the most brutal storms of the season are yet to come.
I love cold and dark (to an extent), but I'd never want to live in a place like this. It's probably the closest you can get to hell on earth. It's more just something that I'm fascinated with. I don't have a favorite season, so I just chose the season I wanted to do the most.
