I love the spring because as winter loosens its grip on the world, the ground thaws, the air warms and everything comes to life as if for the first time.
We open to a scene of icicles melting, dropping water onto softened snow in the month of March. The sun warms the day and soon there are droplets falling all around, leading into the main theme.
But just as we’re becoming optimistic, the temperature drops and the skies darken, and soon we hear the gathering rains of April showers. The storm swells and lighting strikes close by, twice. Hear the Bass at fortississimo emphasizing the echo of thunder.
Even more suddenly than it arrived, the storm passes, leaving just a few stray raindrops as the warm sun of May welcomes garden flowers. We hear the main theme again, followed by the unmistakable song of the Phoebe and other birds, with the warmth of summer settling in.
