Absence

It’s that time of the month again. Well not really month, I didn’t finish anything in November.

I decided to go easy on myself after thinking about the unbearable amount of unnecessary stress I was putting on myself for not finishing a song. It was clear that I wasn’t composing often, and while I do still want to be able to finish ideas, it might just be something that I developed and stayed with me.

I guess it’s time to write about the song now. In the beginning of the process, there was still an absence of ideas haha. Directionless, I looked through my thriving stash of unfinished works. The ones that really stuck with me were the ones that were published just to say “this project is dead”. Well yeah thanks for sharing but then what is “Scrapped Treasure” or “moment of silence”? They are technically just pieces of unfinished works that fit together like a 1000 piece puzzle that’s completely solved save for a few pieces that went missing at the start.

Finally having an idea of what to do, I turned to unfinished songs 2 and 3, and used the structure(and maybe some patterns) to make a new, refined version of the two.

In the absence of ideas, I looked through my old ones–and those old ideas made a new one. And the new idea made a new composition.

Just for the fun of it, I’ll predict the next date in which I will actually finish a song.
The date will be February 16th, 2025 based on my current pace trust

I’ll see you hopefully before that date, but it all depends on what I can do. Or maybe I should just say “only time will tell”.
