Happy holidays, everyone! This is my submission for the December Challenge. I never thought I'd see the day where I have 10 INSTRUMENTS in my piece, but here I am. I enjoyed making this a lot more than I thought I would. I got to use percussion in very creative ways as you will soon see.
When I was making this piece, I imagined a child being whisked away on Santa's sleigh to his workshop at the North Pole. Thus, everything in the music is from their perspective. In the beginning, I used congas to simulate reindeer hooves as sleigh accelerates and lifts off. Measures 12-43 is the main melody with brief glimpses of "Pure Imagination" (peep the title). Measure 44-45 then transitions to the workshop with a run down the keyboard. In the workshop, elves are rhythmically hammering and putting parts together as jingle bells echo from the reindeer. This cacaphony of jolliness reaches a breaking point when the child - overwhelmed with wonder and joy - wakes up from his dream, wondering if what transpired was his *imagination*.
This was a blast to make and I hope you guys enjoy. Good Luck Everyone!
