It’s crazy how in a matter of days life can go from skipping, playing, and being jolly. To being told you have cancer. From playing at the playground to struggling for your life on a ventilator. A young soul taken too soon. Holding hands with God and playing. Her parents know she’s in good hands now. But the loss still hurts. Especially for Rueben who had a huge crush on her but was afraid to tell her. They had been best friends since they were 8, but he didn’t want to ruin anything. Rueben had learned of her cancer diagnosis days before Kayla was hospitalized. He had been finally working up the balls to ask her out and was writing a love letter. But when he went to the hospital he didn’t know how to tell her, especially seeing her in her condition. When Kayla told him she would lose her hair he buzzed his head and hers too to show they were in this together. He visited her everyday in the hospital for a week, until on the 8th day he went to her room and they were cleaning the sheets and she was gone. This is the story about Rueben and his loss of Kayla. Rueben’s Letter is below
Hey Kayla, I know we’ve been best friends for what feels like forever now but I’ve been needing to tell you something. I have deep feelings for you and these feelings aren’t just friendship. Kayla I love you, I know this could ruin everything but I’m willing to risk it for you. I know you’re going through chemo so I wanted to tell you this so you know you’re not alone and that your other half is here. I want to make memories through this battle. I know you can win! I love you,-Rueben ——————————————— This story isn’t true I made it up but I think many people can connect to it. Now I never lost a crush or girlfriend or anything to cancer. But my dad had it when I was younger and it was scary for me because I was so young. I wrote this at first like I was never able to say goodbye to my dad, but he beat it so I can still tell him, and I imagine that how I felt about my dad. REST IN COMMENTS!
