This piece is a beautiful representation of change. The off beat rhythms and wonky time signatures add to the disjointed feel of the first half of the piece. At measure 17, the song starts to play in different time signatures. The xylophone and marimba parts play in 12/8, but the piano's left hand and the vibraphone part are playing in 4/4. On top of that, the bells play in 6/4. This creates an added layer of difficulty to the piece. When the parts finally reunite in 12/8 at measure 21, it brings clarity to the piece. The piece finishes with a dramatic and moving climax, bringing the acceptance of change. This should be played by an experienced percussion ensemble. Enjoy!
