Hello Everyone. This is my submission for the May Challenge.
When I think of my journey as a musician, "carbon to diamond" admittedly isn't what comes to mind. Even while pursuing a degree in music, I don't feel that I will ever become a perfect "diamond" of a musician. I am still learning new things for composition and the piano all the time. It is what makes music fun.
The truth is I haven't really changed as a musician. Sure, I've gotten more proficient in writing and playing the piano. I understand a bit more about the theory. But the FEELING I get when I play and write is still the same it was 7 years ago. The reason I create hasn't changed either.
It has ALWAYS been clear why I make music. It's to be seen.
Pretentious stuff out the way, I made this short piece to highlight my growth as a musician. As the piece progresses, the harmony gets increasingly more rich and colorful. I chose for the ending to be sincere and simple as it is meant to symbolize clarity, like a diamond. I hope everyone enjoys. Thank you all!
