Contact is an epic drumline percussion ensemble featuring the premise of extraterrestrial contact. The complex rhythms and melodies create a feeling of tension and possibility. Certain melodic phrases are repeated through the piece which represent an alien signal being picked up. The main phrase makes its debut in measure 16 with the synth part, and is repeated several times throughout the rest of the piece. Measure 61 is when humanity finally embarks on their journey to locate the source of the mysterious signal. The xylophone motif at measure 88 represents humanity and its quest to find other life. Pay close attention to how this motif progresses and evolves throughout the piece! At measure 99, the rocket escapes the gravitation pull of the Milky Way Galaxy and are on their way to find the signal source. Measure 109 explores the endless possibilities of space outside the galaxy, with the signal growing stronger every Earth hour. As measure 127 approaches, the alien signal increases in strength exponentially until finally, humanity and the alien race unite. This is shower by the fusion of the humanity motif and the signal motif seamlessly intertwining together as the two races peacefully unite. Please enjoy Contact!
